Restaurants, Bars and Beaches - there's plenty!

Main Beach is about a 15 minute walk away. The water remains shallow and is not tidal so there's no massive waves (not great for surfers but is ideal for small children). There's a beautiful paved promenade which is lined with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. It comes to life in the evening when the Turkish staff will put on a dancing show for you and they'll have you up singing on the karaoke. If that's not for you then there's some fabulous restuarants there too.

Walk from our apartment down the "Back Road' and you will come to the smaller and quieter Second Beach. At the top of this beach you will find the large hotels, the usual bars and restaurants and also (pictured) VIP beach lounges. You pay a few Lira per person to have access to a private bar, cushions and sun lounges while floating on the sea. Some VIP lounges also give you use of pedalo canoes (wait till you see them) and a trampoline on the water.

Where is Altinkum in Turkey?

On the map you can see the main resort towns of Kusadasi, Bodrum and Didim (Altinkum). The closest airport to Altinkum is Bodrum Milas, which is in the middle of Bodrum and Altinkum. Once you arrive at Bodrum you can travel 1 hour 10 minutes to arrive in Altinkum, and 1 hour in the opposite direction to Bodrum.
It is also possible to fly into Izmir airport, however, the transfer time is longer at about 2 hours 15 minutes.
The transfer times may seem lengthy when flying into most resorts in Turkey, but you know you'll never been on a flight path, and the travelling is easy as there's very few traffic lights!
